#LoveMadeVisible Day 3: Motherhood, by Rae Chichilnitsky

Original painting done in my own “stained glass on canvas” technique:
acrylic paint and relief outliner on canvas.
Art had always been my passion, but only recently, I’ve decided to return to it professionally.  I see beauty and magic in everything and from time to time have a need to wander into an uncharted territory and try something new. All my creations come from my imagination and are 100% original.  I enjoy working with various subjects, media and styles: old and modern, eastern and western, deep and mundane, realistic and abstract, as they all blend naturally into expression of richness of life and human condition.  I mostly work in acrylics, markers, pencils, watercolor and mixed media. Lately, I’ve been gravitating toward more decorative style with bright colors and bold images, as it bring joy and radiates positive energy. As part of this, I’ve developed a unique painting technique, I call “Stained Glass on Canvas”, which creates luminous, life-affirming paintings, blending perfectly the craft of colored glass with the fine art of traditional painting.

  1. This technique is very interesting and beautiful! I admire the sense of luminosity, especially in the blues, and the depth of the reds is stunning. Best wishes to you!

That’s a really beautiful technique — it is amazing how much light you capture within it! I’d be so curious to hear what sort of themes/subjects you imagine using it with. I was raised Catholic and the associations are so strongly religious for me; I wonder if that is true for others and if so, how you might work with or take advantage of that!

I love how the reds of the lips and the blues of the eyes of mother and baby are reflected in the stained glass around them. Very beautiful.

  7. I admire your ability to be whimsical, elegant and reverent all at the same time. A religious experience! 😀
