First off, I would like to say that I really enjoyed taking a peek at all the wonderful art and writing talent on this blog during February. It was so fun to see, and a real treat to be part of #LoveMadeVisible!
As an illustrator that works alone almost 100% of the time, I’ve found that podcasts are a great way to maintain my sanity! I can learn so much, all while working on my artwork at the same time. Over the years, I’ve listened to many, and I wanted to share my top three picks with you below. Please share your favorites in the comments section so we can learn and grow together as authors and illustrators.
The Solopreneur Hour
This podcast is all about what it’s like to work for yourself. It explores being a ‘solo’ entrepreneur, which I’m guessing most of you reading this blog are! What I enjoy most, is that new content is uploaded constantly, and the guests are really across the board so you can get some key insight in many areas. Michael O’Neal is the host and creator of the podcast, which you can find here : The Solopreneur Hour Podcast.
Creatively Happy
I just started listening to this podcast, and I love how easy going the hosts are. Heather and her mother talk about everything from fairy gardens, to baking, to business. It’s a really great mix for a creative person. Most of the other podcasts I listen to are very results driven. Creatively Happy also focuses on results regarding your creativity, but in a nice and approachable way. Listen to the Creatively Happy Podcast.
SCBWI Conversations
This is a great resource for all SCBWI members! Informative interviews and content that is available only to current SCBWI authors and illustrators. Check out the podcast pagehere and start listening!
Ok, so I have about a dozen other podcasts I listen to regularly, but I’m more interested in what you enjoy. Please share below!

Hi Ashley, Thanks so much for the recommendations– these sound GREAT!
I’ve been listening to these podcasts on/off for years and have really learned a lot:
1) http://katiedavis.com/category/podcast/ – This used to be called “Brain Burps About Books” podcast by Katie Davis. She has a ton of kid lit back episodes, but recently changed her format to include all writers.
2) The Public Speaker’s Quick and Dirty Tips for Improving Your Communication Skills” with Lisa B. Marshall (http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/quick-dirty-tips/the-public-speakers-quick-and-dirty-tips-for-improving-your) Just great tips for communication and for learning how to speak in public.
Kathleen, these sound great! Thank you for sharing them. I look forward to looking into both! Definitely curious about the Katie Davis podcast. 😉
I signed up for 12×12 this year, and someone posted a question there about podcasts recently as well. Here are some of the ones that came up (I haven’t checked them all out!!):

My personal favorite episodes (that I listen to repeatedly!) are the Fresh Air interviews with Maurice Sendak:

Hey Ashley, thanks so much for including me in this! I really appreciate it!
No problem Michael! I always look forward to each new episode you produce, and love to share them with my other creative ‘solopreneur’ friends.
