You know you are a writer and/or illustrator when….
When you lean back and smile after writing something. It doesn’t matter if it isn’t good. Writing is in the heart, soul, and mind. It should make you happy. Otherwise what’s the point?
I love this! 🙂
Absolutely! And being able to just write, even if it’s not any good on a given day, is what counts. Being afraid of writing something crappy will keep you from ever writing anything good and hold you back from the joy of just writing 🙂
When you are so much a part of the world you’ve created that you cry when one of your characters dies.
Robert Frost said, “No tears in the writer, no tears in the reader.” 🙂
. . .everything you experience sparks a tidbit for your idea notebook
you feel the thrill of wriitng even if it’s a funny piece. Your writing is like the breath you need to take to go on. This deep breath revives the soul, that’s because of your writing!
…when a story idea comes to you in the bathroom and you scribble it down on toilet paper with an eye pencil.
Good reason to always buy 2-ply 🙂 hahaha
…when you can’t stop thinking about your characters, and you can’t wait for the next free moment to write (type) new ideas down! Oh … and that whole deadline thing!
…when your characters wake you up in the middle of the night and demand to have their words written down.
you’ve got a journal and pen with you wherever you go!
…when you think of a story wherever you are, and you quick grab anything to write on including a napkin.
when you’re up all night working on something that doesn’t feel like work. 🙂
