SCBWI announced the 2016 Tomie dePaola winners Friday, January 8 and the Eastern PA SCBWI Chapter knocked the easels off the competition!! Our very own, Illustrator Coordinator, Adrienne Wright, placed 2nd. There were more than 400 submissions!! Yep 400 and our Adrienne won Second Place. Everyone happy dance for Adrienne!
Before I send you on your merry way to the SCBWI Tomie dePaola link, we have 2 more reasons to be AMAZED and yes, you read correctly, TWO more reasons.
Lisa Cinella, a Metro New York SCBWI member, regularly attends Eastern PA SCBWI events. We adopted Lisa as one of our own a long time ago, and she WON! Let’s hear it for Lisa!!
And, as if placing First and Second weren’t enough, Anni Matsick, technically a Western PAer but we adopted her too, received Honorable Mention.
At this point you’re probably thinking, ‘WOW! The Eastern PA SCBWI Chapter possesses a powerhouse of talent.’ You’re right. We do, and we couldn’t be more proud. We are positively brimming with happiness!
Before you hop over and check out the Winners’ work, please congratulate them.
And finally, the 2016 Tomie dePaola Winners
Congratulations, ladies! Wonderful work! Cheers!
Thank you so much Virginia!
Congratulations Lisa, Adrienne, and Anni… GREAT work! Beautiful illustrations!
Thanks, Kathleen!
Thank you Kathleen, and KIm, for being a great cheerleader!
Kim, you are really on the ball with getting news out! Thanks for the acknowledgment. I live in Boalsburg, Centre County, dead center in PA, so I can go left or right :0) Fun Fact: Adrienne and I tied for Second Place last year, so it’s the second time she’s in that spot. See 2015 winners: http://www.scbwi.org/announcing-the-tomie-depaola-winners/
One of the best rewards for placing is getting an email from Tomie with his remarks. A few years ago when I placed in the BW challenge, he sent them handwritten (hugely) on paper (several sheets) via usps–something to cherish. Looking forward to seeing you and other EPAers in NY!
Yes, Kim is fantastic! (She omitted that fact that she just signed a book deal herself, so Way to Go Kim!) Anni you are welcome to be in our chapter and we’d love to see you at our events. Yes I agree re: the handwritten note! And Lisa was a finalist last year too!
Congrats, Kim! Lots happening in PA!
Congratulations all around! PA is the place to be. 🙂
Congratulations to all the winners! I’m especially proud of our PA constituents and friend, Adrienne. I know first hand how talented she is!
Aww, thanks! Just saw this now!
