Hi everyone! Happy Spring! As you know, we love sharing Eastern PA SCBWI writing news and events, so be sure to send us an email if you have any news you’d like to share (this includes agent/editor signings, book announcements, award announcements, and anything you’d like to share with our members–don’t be shy). Email me here.
These are non-SCBWI sponsored events. We’re just sharing some writer love.
1—Patricia Thomas, Author of “Stand Back”, said the Elephant, “I’m Going to Sneeze” along with a bookshelf of other books, has a new one out called, Green Bean! Green Bean!
Come and join the fun! Patricia’s new book, GREEN BEAN! GREEN BEAN! p.m.will be officially off and growing on Saturday, April 2 at the Carbondale Library, 2-4 p.m. She’ll plant green beans …read the book…do other fun stuff (including enjoy refreshments!)
It’s free! Everybody’s welcome!
PLUS…if you want to get a sneak peek at this new book, come on in for storytime at the library, on Thursday morning, 11:00. For more information, check out the press release.
2—Join Co-RA Kim Briggs (me;), ARA Alison Green Myers, and Blogmaster Lindsay Bandy, Saturday, April 9 at The Philadelphia Writing Workshop . Chuck Sambuchino of Writer’s Digest has gathered an amazing faculty for this one day event. If you’re registered, stop by and say Hi!
3—Our very own Eastern PA PAL (Published and Listed) Author, Dianne K. Salerni, will be teaching a Writing Workshop: Character, Conflict & Stakes: How to Grab the Reader and Never Let Go (August 21-28) in Ireland! Not exactly around the corner, but across the pond would be a fun way to spend a week in August. These workshops are not sponsored or in any way affiliated with SCBWI. We just like to share cool workshops with you!

Ireland Writer Tours: Writing Conferences in an Inspirational Setting
Conferences inform. Retreats inspire. Travel enriches your life. What if you could do all three at the same time?
Consider making 2016 the year you attend a seven day writing conference while fulfilling that lifelong dream of visiting the Emerald Isle. (Everyone dreams of visiting Ireland, right?)
Ireland Writer Tours is a unique experience, combining full-day and half-day writing workshops, one-on-one feedback from published authors and editors, and guided tours of the most beautiful locations in western Ireland. You’ll visit medieval abbeys and castles, haunted forests, fairy circles, ancient burial sites, and explore the beautiful island of Inis Mor.
Between tours, you’ll hone your writing craft under the guidance of authors and industry professionals, as well as learn all you ever wanted to know about the myriad paths to publication. In addition, you’ll receive partial manuscript critiques from the leaders of your workshop. With enrollment limited to twelve people per session, both the conference itself and the tours will prove to be an intimate and personalized experience.
There are four tours scheduled for the summer of 2016:
Choosing Your Path: Craft, Career, & Publishing (June 5-12)
Bringing Your Manusript to Life: Building Worlds, Characters & Stories That Sell (July 10-17)
How to Write & Sell a Best Seller (August 7-14)
Character, Conflict & Stakes: How to Grab the Reader and Never Let Go (August 21-28)
Workshop leaders include Eastern PA SCBWI member and author Dianne K. Salerni (Clarion/HMH, HarperCollins), Entangled Publishing editor Kate Brauning, Pitch Wars host and author Brenda Drake (Entangled Teen), Entangled Publishing co-founder Liz Pelletier, and many others.

Can’t make the above, but am going to bask in the knowledge at an upcoming HIghlights Foundation workshop. Lots of inspiring places to go. 🙂
Hi Wendy – I just returned from a workshop and it was amazing! Enjoy!
Thanks, Kim. Great job!
