What is a Meet & Greet?

An SCBWI Meet & Greet is a gathering of kid lit writers and illustrators. Like-minded people come together to chat, network, share news and resources, socialize, and learn from one another. In short, it’s a no-pressure (free-of-charge) way to expand your tribe. Past Meet & Greets have included meet-ups at local coffee shops; gatherings after author visits and book festivals; and prearranged bookstore events, guest speaking events, and studio tours.

Where do I find out about upcoming Meet & Greets?

Check out our “Upcoming Events” tab on this blog, or go to EPA’s website and click on the “Meet & Greet” tab. Listings can also be found under “Events.” If you don’t see a Meet & Greet happening in your area, plan one!

Who plans Meet & Greets?

In short, YOU! Meet & Greets are planned by member volunteers. We highly encourage everyone to consider getting involved in our regional chapter, and planning a Meet & Greet is a great and simple way to do so.

How do I plan a Meet & Greet?

It’s really as simple as contacting me (HeatherStigallCM@aol.com) to let me know the place, date, and time of your event. Remember, these are intended to be free, no-pressure meet-ups. You don’t have to plan a specific agenda, but if you have something in mind, just let me know! If you are interested in planning a Meet & Greet, contact me to talk about ideas and to advertise your event on the EPA Meet & Greet web page.

When are the next Meet & Greets?

To welcome in 2019 we have three M&Gs planned so far, but keep checking the EPA website for new events as they are added:
