Call for Proposals for Our Annual Pocono Mountain Retreat

Together-we-can-1

EPA SCBWI Members Are Needed to Lead Sessions at Our 28th Annual Pocono Mountain Retreat

Our Eastern PA team of volunteers are once again looking for EPA members to lead sessions at this year’s Pocono Mountain Retreat. The sessions are for single presenters (unless willing to split the stipend with co-presenters.) We welcome proposals from published and/or pre-published authors, illustrators, or author/illustrators. Member-led sessions will take place on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19. These sessions will be 50-minutes in length, with access to technology.

This year’s theme is TOGETHER WE CAN. We look forward to sessions on the “togetherness”
of pictures and words,
of plot and character,
of pacing and anticipation,

as well as sessions on self-care, critique groups, support groups, and nurturing the GREAT community of writers and illustrators we have here in Eastern PA.

We will announce our lead faculty, agents, and editors soon, with registration for the retreat opening February 1 at 8:00 a.m. Today, we look to our amazing EPA members and ask, “What will you teach us about TOGETHER WE CAN?”

  • What brings us together as creatives?
  • Why do our young readers need to know TOGETHER WE CAN?
  • What does togetherness have to do with crafting stories? Plots? Themes? Characters? Casts? Illustrations? Series?
  • Why is togetherness as a community important to us as writers and illustrators?

We know that you will come up with wonderful ideas . . . and when you do, send them to the EPA Team where we will pick six members to present at the 2020 Pocono Mountain Retreat.

Details about submissions, compensation, and deadlines are at this link.

The deadline for proposals is February 15, 2020.

If you have any questions about the call for proposals or about the Pocono Retreat in general, please contact Alison at scbwiepa@gmail.com.
