Member News is a monthly feature on the EasternPennPoints blog. We want to celebrate our Eastern PA SCBWI members’ good news and help spread the word far and wide. Send us your children’s book–related news—book deals, releases, awards, author or illustrator events (signings, launch parties, appearances), etc. If you’d like your news to be included in next month’s column, please email Laura Parnum at epa-ra2@scbwi.org before September 20, or fill out our “Good News Survey.”
Here’s some exciting news from our members this month:
Television Appearance

Author Hillary Daecher was featured on Good Day PA! this month. In an “Author Spotlight” segment Hillary, along with her illustrator, Angie Hohenadel, discussed their new picture book, The Nightmare Bug, which is set to be released this fall by Schiffer Kids. In the book, The Nightmare Bug is creeping into dreams again . . . He’s been around sleep for many, many years, turning magical dreams into things we all fear. But not tonight!
KidLit Song Release

Annie Lynn, Walter Wilczewski, and AnnieBirdd Music, LLC have just released another KidLit song. This one is #Storystorm: The Musical Edition song #3. It’s entitled “A Thing Called Kindness” and was based on 13 picture books that represent kindness in different ways. One mentor text was Way Past Worried by Eastern PA SCBWI member Hallee Adelman (Albert Whitman & Co., 2020). An illustration for “A Thing Called Kindness” was licensed from illustrator Maple Lam (SCBWI Los Angeles). Her illustration TeaCup Love is for the album cover art used on digital media platforms and for radio stations. Storystorm song #4, a KidLit theme song, will be out later in September.
