Did you know that the coolest small town in America (yes, that’s official!) also hosts a kid lit festival? It’s at Linden Hall in downtown Lititz on Saturday, November 1….a hop skip and a jump from the Wilbur Chocolate Factory and gorgeous Lititz Springs Park, plus lots of neat-o shops and restaurants. (It’s my hometown, and I adore it!)
Eastern PA’s very own Kit Grindstaff, author of THE FLAME IN THE MIST, and winner of the 2014 Atlantic Crystal Kite, will be there presenting and signing books! Here is a special invitation from Kit, just for you!
Hi everyone! I’ll be at the Lititz Book Festival this Saturday, Nov. 1st. At 1:30, I’m teaching an hour-long workshop for teens and tweens on World Building in Fantasy Fiction – adults welcome too! I’ll talk about different aspects of world building and keeping all the elements consistent. There’ll be some fun writing exercises too (materials supplied). Then at 4:30, I’ll be signing copies of The Flame in the Mist.
There will be workshops for adults and kids (Kindergarten through teens), and it’s only about $20 for a family of 4. Come and check it out! There’s an amazing roster of PA (and non-PA) authors lined up, including….
Jennifer Holm
Tom Angleberger
David Levithan
Cece Bell
Caroline Carlson
Kit Grindstaff
John Kloepfer
Matt Phelan
Mara Rockliff
Courtney Sheinmel
Eric Wright
A.S. King

This IS a great line-up. But the NJ SCBWI is holding their craft weekend at the same time. Sigh. Too many bookish events is a first world problem. 🙂
For those not in the Lititz area, there’s also the Pottsville Family Reading Festival, Saturday, November 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with many of our local colleagues in attendance. See http://republicanheraldnie.weebly.com/authors.html.

I’m putting in a plug for Lititz ☺. This is a great event–and Aaron’s Books is a wonderful indie bookstore! The lineup looks great, and word has it that there will be light saber battles and other Star Wars fun–including origami (Yoda style).
